At Thrive And Shine LBG, we believe that talent is universal, but opportunity is not. That's why our scholarship program is at the heart of our mission to provide access to quality education, support, and resources for marginalized individuals and communities across Africa for regional impact. We are a community-driven organization dedicated to bridging the gaps in STE(A)M education, gender equity, and regional access ensuring no one is left behind in Africa's digital future.

How Our Scholarship Program Works

We streamline the process to make it accessible and fair, focusing on transparency and impact. Here's a step-by-step overview of our scholars routine:

  1. Receiving Applications: We open calls for applications annually (and on a rolling basis for urgent needs) via our website and community partners. Aspiring scholars submit simple forms detailing their academic background, financial situation, and passion for STE(A)M fields. No fancy essays required just your story and potential.
  2. Shortlisting: Our volunteer review committee comprising educators, mentors, and community leaders evaluates submissions based on our core selection criteria. We prioritize diversity, ensuring representation from underrepresented regions and voices from women and girls in STE(A)M.
  3. Interviewing: Top candidates join virtual or in-person interviews to discuss their goals, challenges, and how a Thrive And Shine scholarship aligns with their dreams. This personal touch helps us understand not just your brilliance, but your resilience.
  4. Awarding Scholarships: Based on our policy-driven selection criteria, we award full or partial scholarships covering tuition, books, mentorship, and even tech resources. Our guiding principle? Are you really needy and brilliant? We seek students who demonstrate:
  • Academic Brilliance: Strong performance in STE(A)M subjects, curiosity, and potential for innovation.
  • Demonstrated Need: Financial hardship, lack of access to educational resources, or barriers tied to gender or location.
  • Commitment to Community: A desire to give back and uplift others in marginalized spaces.

Awards are renewable annually, with ongoing support through our mentorship program, where scholars are paired with industry experts to guide their educational and career journeys.
